Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patient scheduling and registration across NMHC systems. You will ensure accurate demographic collection, verify insurance eligibility, and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with medical necessity checks, communicating options to patients, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Practices Patients First philosophy and delivers high standards of customer service.
• Responds to questions and concerns from patients.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Interacts with hospital departments to schedule and direct patients in NMHC systems.
• Performs medical necessity checks and explains options if appointments fail.
• Completes out-of-pocket estimations as requested by patients.
• Supports training and cross-training to ensure department coverage.
