Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification. You will interact with patients, protect confidentiality, and ensure accurate data entry while delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities include validating information, communicating options for appointments, and collaborating with hospital departments to maintain smooth patient flow within the NMHC system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• ,Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to multi-task and remain organized.
• Customer service oriented with strong problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Consistently practices Patients First philosophy and delivers high customer service standards.
• Responds to questions and concerns from patients and staff.
• Directs issues to Team Lead or Operations Coordinator as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Provides training and education as needed to staff.
• Participates in Quality Assurance reviews and improves patient data integrity.
• Schedules patients through NMHC systems in a patient/customer friendly manner.
• Performs medical necessity checks for scheduled services and communicates options to patients.
