Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Patient Access representative to support registration, billing, and scheduling across locations. You will collect demographic information, verify insurance, and enter data accurately.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with nights/weekends as needed, interacting with patients, families, and providers to ensure timely, accurate processing.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA).
• Experience using patient registration systems, insurance verification systems, and/or Medicaid portals.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and insurance companies to obtain information and verify insurance.
• Interviews patients and families to obtain demographic and financial details and ensures forms are completed as required.
• Enters data into the system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation.
• Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations if applicable.
• Explains regulatory financial requirements to patients and collects deposits or deductibles as needed.
• Supports Patient Accounting by producing clean claims and reducing denials, while coordinating with staff.
• Schedules patient appointments and coordinates referrals and procedures.
• Ensures timely communication and maintains patient confidentiality.
