Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a PRN Patient Access Clerk to support registration, scheduling, and billing operations. The role involves verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records across multiple locations in Georgia.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in healthcare clerical work, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, including nights or weekends when needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year of healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification to ensure quality patient care and payment of hospital accounts.
• Interviews patients and families to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information and ensures all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed as required by government/regulatory agencies.
• Enters data into system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation to minimize patient wait times.
• Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations if applicable.
• Explains regulatory financial requirements and collects deposits or deductible amounts as required.
• Assists Patient Accounting by capturing accurate data to produce clean claims and prevent denials; acts as liaison with patients.
• Maintains wait time communication; updates schedulers and patient information tools.
• Maintains medical records and confidentiality; creates patient charts and handles correspondence with providers.
