Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a PRN Patient Access Clerk to support registration, billing, and scheduling across locations. You will collect demographic and financial information, verify insurance, and assist patients with questions while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Ideal candidates bring experience in healthcare clerical work, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong customer service skills. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is valued.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Preferred: CPAR or CHAA certification and familiarity with registration systems.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and insurance to verify information and payment.
• Interviews patients to obtain demographics and financial details per regulatory requirements.
• Enters data for registration, billing, and appointment scheduling to minimize wait times.
• Verifies insurance coverage and prior authorizations as applicable.
• Explains financial requirements and collects deposits/deductibles when needed.
• Acts as liaison to support patient inquiries and coordinates with multiple departments.
• Maintains patient records, confidential information, and scheduling updates.
