Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Patient Access professional to communicate with patients, families, physicians, and insurers to verify information and ensure accurate billing. The role involves data entry, scheduling, and maintaining patient records, with a focus on timely, compliant processing and outstanding customer service.

The position supports multiple locations, requires flexibility including nights and holidays, and requires knowledge of medical terminology and registration

Qualifications

• Requires 1 year of experience in healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent may be considered in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification.
• Interviews patients and families to gather demographic and financial information and ensures forms are completed per regulations.
• Enters data for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation.
• Verifies insurance coverage and authorizations if applicable.
• Explains financial regulatory requirements and collects deposits/deductibles as required.
• Supports Patient Accounting to produce clean claims and reduce denials.
• Escalates urgent needs to leaders or clinical staff as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and handles medical record maintenance.
