Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative who is often the first point of contact for patients and will guide them through entry into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, familiarity with insurance and Medicare guidelines, and the ability to discuss financial responsibility and payment options with patients.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, register, verify benefits, pre-certify, and obtain financial clearance.
• Collect patient financial responsibility before or at service and document outcomes.
• Explain payment options and financial assistance resources to patients.
• Maintain accurate patient data in the system and communicate with staff.
