Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access professional to support scheduling, preregistration and financial clearance, ensuring patients understand their responsibilities. You will verify benefits, obtain necessary authorizations, and communicate clearly with patients and providers to promote smooth admissions and billing.

The role emphasizes accuracy, service quality, and collaboration with AHN leaders, physicians offices, and external partners while adhering to HIPAA and privacy

Qualifications

• Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications
• Preferred Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications
• Call/Service Center experience

Responsibilities

• Completes scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance and related tasks to support timely bill submission.
• Verifies insurance information and identifies authorization/referral requirements; coordinates with physicians and payors.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates costs, collects liabilities and performs post payments as appropriate.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, staff and external partners.
• Maintains productivity and adheres to policies; participates in required training.
