Qualifications

• Minimum six months of customer service experience.
• Knowledge of insurances and healthcare billing preferred.
• Ability to work any day of the week, including holidays, to accommodate customer service needs.
• Keyboarding and office procedures experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preregister and register patients, escorting them as needed to ensure a smooth arrival experience.
• Accurately gather demographic, emergency and insurance information during preregistration/registration.
• Provide courteous, professional telephone communication and build rapport with patients and hospital staff to support customer service standards.
• Explain consent, Patient Rights forms and other hospital documentation; obtain signatures and respond to questions.
• Perform financial clearance tasks, including eligibility checks and insurance verification, with excellent customer service.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the EMR system; scan documents and alert staff to any discrepancies.
• Maintain a professional environment for patients, families and staff; assist with slow periods and participate in performance improvement.
• Provide limited cashiering duties including receipt of payments and change as needed.
• Coordinate with referring providers and departments to exchange information for reimbursement.
