Danbury Hospital in New Milford, CT is seeking a Patient Access professional to facilitate a smooth, one-touch registration experience. You will gather demographics, verify insurance, and collect patient liability while guiding patients through scheduling and admissions processes.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, answering calls, scheduling, and ensuring accurate data in the EMR, with emphasis on HIPAA and EMTALA compliance and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma with 2+ years related experience; Associate degree with 6 months preferred.
• Minimum experience of 1 year in a related role preferred.
• Basic MS Word and MS Excel proficiency.
• Customer service and strong organizational skills.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and staff promptly and professionally, assist with check-in and directions.
• Respond to calls per customer service standards and provide information.
• Search and select patient in EMPI to ensure accurate identification.
• Schedule appointments following protocol and confirm details with patients.
• Enter accurate demographic and financial information for registrations.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required payor information.
• Provide service cost estimates and actively discuss patient liability.
• Initiate orders in the EMR system when needed.
• Obtain signatures for required consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Bill of Rights.
