Danbury Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to facilitate one-touch registration and scheduling. You will collect demographic and financial information, verify insurance, and provide service estimates while guiding patients and physicians through the process.

Responsibilities include greeting and checking in patients, handling calls, and ensuring HIPAA/EMTALA compliance. Weekend/evening shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma with 2+ years related experience.
• Associate degree with 6 months related experience preferred.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.
• Basic MS Word and MS Excel skills.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and physicians, check in and direct as needed.
• Respond to calls per customer service standards; reduce abandonment.
• Search and identify patients in EMPI to ensure accurate IDs.
• Schedule appointments per protocol in scheduling systems/EMR.
• Enter demographic and financial information to aid payment collection.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorization.
• Provide service estimates and collect patient liability.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Bill of Rights.
• Obtain signatures for consents and required notifications.
