Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Patient Access Registration Representative to accurately register patients, verify demographics and insurance, and collect copays at the point of service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service environment.
• High school diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret insurance benefits and apply to hospital services.
• Proficient with computer systems and multiple programs.
• Balance patient access and collections responsibilities.
• Cross-train in at least one other department as directed.
• Effective communication with patients and staff; professional demeanor.
• Familiarity with registration workflows and Epic is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients by collecting demographic and insurance information.
• Explains patient financial responsibilities and collects copays/deductibles.
• Schedules and coordinates patient appointments per department standards.
• Answers phone in a courteous and timely manner; relays messages.
• Supports digital tools (kiosks/tablets) to enhance patient experience.
• Follows policies, suggests process improvements, and escalates issues.
• Cross-trains to support other departments as needed.
• Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
