Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a Patient Access professional to coordinate registration, scheduling, and financial clearance for ED, inpatient, and outpatient care. You will verify insurance, collect demographics, and ensure accurate data entry and documentation while delivering compassionate service to families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; healthcare experience preferred.
• 5-7 years directly related experience preferred; healthcare setting experience.
• Strong telephone, written and verbal communication skills with families.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel; comfortable with data entry and typing.

Responsibilities

• Follow department protocol providing receptionist, secretarial, or health unit coordinator functions.
• Respond with tact to needs of patients and families; protect privacy and confidentiality.
• Assist with staffing assignments and scheduling as requested; support unit operations.
• Register and pre-register patients; collect demographic and insurance data.
• Verify insurance information, generate forms, and obtain signatures for visits.
• Schedule and coordinate complex appointments; act as front line contact for patients.
