Job summary

Norwalk Hospital Association is hiring for a Patient Access role in Norwalk, CT. The position handles registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to ensure a smooth patient flow from arrival through check-in.

Hours vary with a Monday–Friday schedule plus every other weekend, evenings, and holidays as needed. Requires a HS Diploma and 2+ years of related experience; NAHAM cert within a year is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma with minimum 2 years related experience.
• Associate degree preferred with 6 months related experience.
• Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
• Basic MS Word and MS Excel knowledge.
• Customer Service and organizational skills.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors promptly and professionally; direct to appointment location and provide confidentiality.
• Respond to calls and provide information; help reduce call abandonment and improve wait times.
• Search and verify patient identity in the system to ensure accurate records.
• Schedule and register patients for services; contact patients for information or confirmations.
• Enter demographic and financial information to enable payment collection.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain payor requirements as needed.
• Provide service cost estimates and discuss patient financial responsibilities.
• Enter orders in the system when required; understand coding and billing protocols.
• Obtain signatures for consents and notifications as required.
• Maintain compliance with department policies, HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Bill of Rights.
• Perform any other assigned duties.
