Job summary

Hanger, Inc. in Newport News, VA is seeking a front desk receptionist to ensure a seamless patient experience. You will greet patients, verify demographics, collect payments, schedule appointments, and coordinate with clinic staff to support prosthetic and orthotic services.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and some customer service or front office experience, plus basic computer skills. A valid driver's license and ability to work with diverse patient populations are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Less than one year of customer service or related experience preferred.
• Experience in a receptionist role or medical front office is preferred.
• Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients at the front desk, provide wait time information, and answer inquiries.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance details during check-in; handle walk-ins.
• Collect patient payments (deductibles, copays, coinsurance) at the front desk.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including casts, measurements, and prosthetic care plans.
• Act as liaison for clinic services, patient experience programs, support groups and resources.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Management to obtain necessary patient information.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records for all patients.
