Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Patient Services Representative for the MedStar Care Connection Contact Center in Hyattsville, MD. You will welcome callers, gather patient information, and schedule appointments across multiple physician practices and locations.

Key duties include assisting with scheduling, maintaining accurate registrations, and communicating effectively with patients and staff. Strong emphasis on empathy, accuracy, and handling high call volumes in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 2 years customer service experience preferably within a healthcare setting.
• Experience working in a hospital or medical office scheduling environment preferred.
• Able to type 40 WPM accurately; computer literate and able to navigate varied systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, telephone and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and manage difficult callers.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Assists and troubleshoots scheduling appointments and selecting physicians by subspecialty or location.
• Completes call processing efficiently and manages peak volumes.
• Cross-sells locations or physicians per protocol.
• Maintains protocol knowledge and supports scheduling across subspecialties/locations.
• Develops and distributes weekly activity reports.
• Ensures clear communication within the center and with patients and staff.
• Stays updated on communications and protocol changes within the Contact Center.
• Responds to inquiries about appointments, referrals, and services.
• Validates insurance with the MedStar Participating Listing.
