Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Access Specialist to support front desk operations, scheduling, and patient data accuracy across the Northwestern Medicine system. You will uphold the Patients First philosophy and protect patient confidentiality while delivering high-quality service.

You will respond to questions, verify insurance eligibility, perform pre-visit checks, collect demographics, and input notes into Epic.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to type 40 wpm.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Fosters a team atmosphere and delivers high-quality customer service.
• Responds to questions and concerns from patients.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Interacts with hospital departments to schedule patients through NMHC systems.
• Routes issues to Team Lead or Operations Coordinator as needed.
• Performs medical necessity checks and communicates options if appointments fail.
