Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ is seeking a paraeducator to provide instructional support under direct supervision for students who are academically disadvantaged in Reading, Writing, and Math. You will work closely with the assigned teacher and individual students to reinforce skills and follow a plan.

The role includes assisting with classroom computer instruction and translation when necessary. Qualifications include an Associate's degree or 60 college credits (or ParaPro test).

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be preferred at some sites

Responsibilities

• Work in close proximity with assigned teacher and specific students
• Assist students, individually or in groups, to reinforce skills and/or oversee learning activities
• Follow specific functions as outlined in a written plan to supplement classroom instruction
• Assist with classroom computer instruction
• Assist with translation when necessary
• Participate in professional development (site/district) to enhance ability to support student achievement
• Participate as a stakeholder in school improvement initiatives
• Complete training to assist in the administration and scoring of assessments
• Regular and on-time attendance required
• Perform other related, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
