Job summary

Irving Elementary in Mesa, Arizona is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Title I for a part-time role (24 hours per week) to support classroom teachers and interventionists working with students who are academically disadvantaged in Reading, Writing, and Math.

The position starts immediately, offers annual performance pay, and requires an Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours (or ParaPro). Bilingual English/Spanish may be preferred at some sites; benefits are not listed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire or pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be preferred at some sites
• Experience assisting teachers and supporting students in reading, writing, and math

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the assigned teacher and students
• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills
• Follow written plans to supplement classroom instruction
• Assist with classroom computer instruction
• Assist with translation when necessary
• Participate in professional development to support student achievement
• Participate in school improvement initiatives
• Complete training to assist in administering and scoring assessments
• Maintain regular and on-time attendance
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the school
