Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Certificate/Degree in health care related field preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly required.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of health information system (Epic) preferred.
• Previous medical administrative experience and/or health care related education courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify/validate patient selection in hospital information system to maintain EMR integrity.
• Register patients: demographics, emergency contact, diagnoses, insurance, and guarantor verification.
• Transcribe orders and verify real-time insurance eligibility; handle pre-reg and post-reg needs.
• Cross-train across locations and departments; assist in outpatient and ED areas as needed.
• Greet patients and visitors; enforce visitor policy and provide courteous service.
• Answer main department lines; provide facility information and services.
• Promote MyChart and patient self-service capabilities.
• Assist patients with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology; monitor patient flow.
• Coordinate with practice or prior authorization to obtain referrals/pre-certs and reduce denials.
• Obtain medical license number, NPI, UPIN for new provider entries (outpatient).
