Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II (S) at Dismal Swamp State Park in South Mills, NC. The role performs semi-skilled trades, grounds maintenance and general facility service to keep state parks safe and welcoming.

Responsibilities include carpentry, plumbing, electrical and auto mechanics as needed, operating equipment, and maintaining records. A sign-on bonus is offered and some certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and/or tools.
• Purchase resources in accordance with state purchasing policies and procedures.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping.
• May supervise temporary and permanent staff, community service participants, and/or volunteers on special projects.
