Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II at New River State Park in Laurel Springs, NC. The role maintains park grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment, with duties spanning carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and auto mechanics.

Typical schedule is Mon-Thur 7:00 A.M.–5:30 P.M., with potential evenings or weekends. Also requires certifications and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions at a state park setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of progressive experience in the trades or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal technician certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance.
• Operate large and small equipment and tools; maintain records and forms.
• Assist in housekeeping and grounds maintenance; support in boundary/land management.
• May supervise temporary staff, volunteers, or community service participants.
