Job summary

Optimal Care is seeking a Hospice After Hours Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, skilled care during overnights, responding to urgent needs and ensuring comfort and dignity at end of life. The role emphasizes autonomous practice, quick clinical decision-making, and a predictable 7-on/7-off schedule from 5pm–8am.

Work is home-based with travel within Michigan service areas, no on-call requirements, and a strong emphasis on supporting families through crisis moments with clinical expertise.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
• Current State License as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a nurse in a clinical care setting.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and valid automobile insurance coverage.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage urgent symptoms during night shifts.
• Provide skilled nursing interventions and emotional support.
• Support families through crisis moments with clinical expertise and compassion.
• Coordinate with physicians and hospice team to ensure continuity of care.
