Job summary

BOWERY RESIDENTS' COMMITTEE, INC. is hiring a Community Technician in Brooklyn, NY to ensure a safe, respectful living environment for residents on a 24/7 program. The role involves night shifts Thursday through Monday, 12am–8:30am, with mandatory overtime and 37.5 hours per week.

Training will cover trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and documentation. Responsibilities include monitoring rounds, responding to crises, assisting with meals and logistics, and supporting fire safety and security.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
