Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. seeks a Community Technician on the East Side of Manhattan in a 37.5-hour, Sunday–Thursday schedule with overnight shifts.

You’ll be a consistent presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, delivering trauma-informed support and monitoring in a safe residential setting. The role emphasizes crisis response, documentation, and collaboration with a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and basic computer proficiency.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan, training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
