Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Community Technician for the East Side, working Thursday through Monday on the overnight shift (11pm-7:30am).

This full-time role supports individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring a safe, supportive environment and swift crisis response. Responsibilities include monitoring residents, de-escalation, documentation, and coordination of meals, safety procedures, and facility upkeep.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency required.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid training provided).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
