Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician for a full-time, 37.5-hour weekly role with a 24/7 program requiring mandatory overtime. The position focuses on maintaining a safe residential environment and providing crisis support to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Ideal candidates bring empathy, strong judgment, and calmness under pressure, with opportunities for certifications through BRC and a clear path to advancement in case management and leadership.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
