Job summary

Carter Lumber Company is hiring an Outside Sales Representative in Fort Wayne, IN. You will sell our full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers, while managing ongoing relationships and projects.

You’ll visit job sites, maintain schedules, and gather data on customer needs and product usage. This role offers salary plus commission with uncapped earning potential in a growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales.
• Knowledge of home building basics.
• Create material estimates/quotes and special orders.
• Open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Learn to read blueprints and provide material take off lists.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Attend HBA/builder/company functions as required.

Responsibilities

• Sell full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers.
• Manage accounts and relationships after a sale.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain schedules.
• Collect and update information on customers’ product use and trends.
