Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Patient Coordinator I to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and ensure accurate records for physician visits. This role operates in a clinic/call-center setting within the Mount Sinai Health System.

You will support insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and HIPAA compliance while delivering compassionate, patient-centered service. On-site training is provided, with a focus on accuracy and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year physician practice experience preferred.
• On-site training provided (1 week).
• Experience with medical office scheduling systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics.
• Verify insurance and ensure physician accepts presented plans.
• Inform staff about patient arrival and ensure medical records are ready.
• Process HIPAA paperwork and institutional forms as needed.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and guidance for medical records requests.
• May perform basic charge entry and process payments; duties may vary.
• Handle PHI with HIPAA and related government/state requirements.
