Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Assure physician accepts the insurance presented; verify before arrival or at check-in.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure patient records are available for the physician.
• Process HIPAA-related paperwork and other forms as needed.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and provide records request guidance.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Ensure PHI handling complies with HIPAA and state/federal requirements.
