Job summary

Affinity Eye Care is seeking an Optometric Technician to support our optometrists and deliver high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, manage the doctor’s schedule, and help educate patients to ensure a smooth, efficient visit.

Responsibilities include performing preliminary evaluations, documenting findings in the EHR, handling referrals and scheduling, and maintaining clean, organized exam rooms.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity, etc.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit to provide details to Optometrist.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
