Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and enhance patient care from intake to post-exam documentation. You will perform preliminary evaluations, assist with diagnostic tests, maintain records, and help manage the appointment schedule to deliver efficient, high-quality experiences.

The role requires familiarity with eye care procedures, HIPAA compliance, and strong communication skills in a fast-paced clinical setting. On-site position with full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and other specialty referrals.
• Records and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and state policies.
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Ensures maximum schedule utilization through pre-appointment confirmations and recalls.
• May act as a scribe or perform refractions.
• End-of-day duties and maintaining a clean, organized practice area.
