Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support physicians, conduct pre‑testing, assist with diagnostics, and manage appointments to ensure a high‑quality patient experience. You will handle medical documentation, HIPAA compliance, and patient communications while contributing to team success.

Responsibilities include pre‑exam screenings, diagnostic testing assistance, and post‑exam follow‑ups, with opportunities to work with advanced ophthalmic equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist.
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post‑exam tasks.
• Manage doctor’s appointment schedule for efficient, high‑quality patient flow.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings in EHR and assist with related clerical duties.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization through pre‑appointment confirmations and recalls.
• Handle contact lens insertions/removals and manage trial inventory and orders.
• Complete end‑of‑day wrap‑up and cleaning tasks.
