Job summary

AEG Vision is actively seeking an Optometric Technician to work with the Optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. You will handle pre-testing procedures, assist with specialty testing, and manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will also maintain patient records in the EHR, support contact lens services, and participate in end-of-day wrap-up tasks while upholding HIPAA regulations and practice policies.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Conduct verbal interview with patient prior to visit to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referral appointments and complete paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in EHR in compliance with policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication and treatment.
• Perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Ensure efficient schedule utilization via pre-appointment confirmations and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens insertion, removal, and inventory management.
• Perform end-of-day duties and maintain a clean work environment.
• Act as scribe for the Optometrist if needed and perform other duties.
