Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician who will work with Optometrists to support patient care and education. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s schedule for a smooth patient experience.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and familiarity with eye care procedures and HIPAA regulations. Full-time benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and follow-up visits, and complete paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• May perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Serve as a scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions and assist with clerical duties.
