Job summary

VSP Vision in Reno, NV is seeking an Optician 2 to help customers find eyeglasses and contact lenses that best match their prescription while delivering the highest quality care.

You will assist with frame selection, take measurements, dispense eyewear, and recommend lenses and coatings to suit individual needs, occupations, and facial features. You’ll also assist with insurance billing, document patient communications, and maintain neat showroom displays.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in a related field.
• State licensure or certification as an optician if required by state.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and practice software.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Determine the reason for the patient's visit and recommend eyewear per prescription.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to retain patients and ensure satisfaction.
• Assist customers in frame selection and coordinate measurements with prescriptions.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit needs and features.
• Take measurements, assist with adjustments, and dispense eyewear.
• Ensure accurate pricing and realistic delivery quotes for patients.
• Document all patient communication in records and assist with insurance billing.
• Maintain clean, merchandised displays and participate in special projects.
