Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optical Consultant on-site in Brentwood to support Optometrists and provide exceptional patient care. You will guide frame and lens choices, explain products, and manage order processes.

Responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, updating EHR data, and ensuring satisfaction from intake to final fitting. EEO-compliant, full-time position with emphasis on customer service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification required.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor; sales experience preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Collaborate with co-workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient and explains customized product/service recommendations.
• Receive patient handoff and identify visual needs to recommend frames, lenses, coatings, and specialty products.
• Keep current on company/industry products, procedures, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Handle patient calls, update on order status, and escalate issues to management when needed.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lens types, and coatings per individual needs and measurements.
• Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranty coverage, and replacement options.
• Understand medical and vision insurance plans, including eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, and coverage limitations.
• Interpret prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists and enter data into EHR/ALE systems; ensure documentation is attached.
• Follow up on pending orders, inform patients of delays, and notify when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense glasses, check fit, adjust for comfort, and solicit patient feedback.
• Use tools to adjust eyewear for proper fit and comfort.
• Proficient with tools like pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers.
• Communicate with technicians and managers about order status and patient information.
• Inspect final products for flaws; clean and polish lenses.
