Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience as an Optician preferred.
• HIPAA experience preferred.
• PC skills: MS Office, Windows, word processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Delivers an exceptional experience to each patient and explains customized product/service recommendations.
• Handoff from technicians/doctors; build rapport; identify visual needs and recommend frames, lenses, and treatments.
• Stay current on products, rebates, lenses, and frames.
• Handle patient calls; update on orders; escalate issues to management as needed.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lens types, and coatings per needs.
• Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranties, and replacement options.
• Understand insurance plans, eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, and coverage limits.
• Interpret prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists; enter into EHR/ALE systems.
• Follow up on pending orders; inform patients of delays; notify when eyewear is ready.
• Inspect final product for fit and comfort; perform adjustments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of frames and display areas.
• Answer patient questions about insurance, products, pricing, and promotions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
