Job summary

Walmart Sam's Club optical team member in Jefferson City, MO assists members with eyewear selection, measures pupillary distance, and processes eyewear and contact lens orders. Responsible for frame adjustments, repairs, and QA before dispensing, while educating customers on eyewear care and proper usage.

Role includes operating POS, handling payments, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant records, with training to obtain ABO certification and state licensure where required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent to sit for ABO exam.
• Meet requirements to work as Optical associate per state licensure rules.
• Must obtain ABO certification within 15 months of hire.
• Willingness and ability to work with Manager to register and maintain own NPI number as required by state law.
• Must meet state licensure requirements and obtain licensure within 18 months; complete minimum apprenticeship hours if required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with eyewear purchases and measure pupillary distance.
• Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and final inspection of eyewear prior to dispensing.
• Process optical orders and communicate with labs/optometrists on status and updates.
• Educate members on eyewear usage, care, and contact lens handling, and support OD services as applicable.
