Job summary

Walmart Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a part-time Optical Associate (Non-Certified) at Sam’s Club to support the optical area.

You will stock, display and maintain product areas, operate the POS system, assist members with eyewear purchases, and help with fittings, repairs, and contact lens guidance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED; ABO certification within 15 months; and willingness to learn state licensure requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon job entry or within 12 months of hire in order to sit for ABO exam.
• Must obtain ABO certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Willingness and ability to work with Manager to register and maintain own NPI number as required by state law.
• Must complete all applicable state licensure requirements and obtain optician licensure within 3 months of completing the minimum apprenticeship hours required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Maintains merchandise presentation by stocking merchandise and setting up displays.
• Operates registers and processes member purchases and exchanges.
• Educates members on eyewear usage and care; assists with adjustments, repairs and orders.
• Schedules patient appointments and supports OD services where applicable.
• Performs final inspection of eyewear prior to dispensing and coordinates with labs and optometrists.
