Job summary

SEES Management Solutions in Knoxville, TN, seeks a Surgery Counselor to coordinate all aspects of ophthalmology surgical scheduling, serving as the liaison between patients, surgeons, and facilities and managing pre- and post-operative appointments, authorizations, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Two years of surgical scheduling experience in healthcare, ophthalmology preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Experience with EHR systems and practice management software.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must qualify for Ophthalmic Tech II if internal applicant.
• Completion of SEES Advancement Credits every 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries with providers and facilities.
• Inform patients of dates, instructions, and prep requirements.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and verify coverage.
• Ensure pre-operative requirements are completed before surgery.
• Educate patients about costs, payment plans, and coverage.
• Maintain organized scheduling and improve workflow.
• Address scheduling conflicts and patient concerns promptly.
• Protect confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with post-operative appointment coordination.
