Job summary

AVP SEES Group in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a dedicated Surgery Counselor to coordinate all aspects of ophthalmology scheduling, ensuring a seamless patient and provider experience.

You will manage pre- and post-operative appointments, secure insurance authorizations, educate patients, and liaise with surgeons and facilities to keep calendars running smoothly while maintaining HIPAA compliance and first-rate service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of surgical scheduling experience in a healthcare setting, ophthalmology preferred.
• COA preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems and practice management software.
• Strong front desk knowledge and insurance verification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries with provider availability and facility coordination.
• Inform patients about surgery dates, prep, and post-operative care.
• Secure insurance authorizations and verify coverage.
• Ensure pre-operative requirements are completed.
• Serve as liaison among patients, surgeons, and facilities for seamless coordination.
• Provide patients with cost information and payment options.
• Maintain organized scheduling to prevent conflicts.
• Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Address scheduling conflicts and patient concerns promptly.
• Support 20/20 Patient Experience initiatives.
