Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support patient care in a clinic setting near North Canton. You will greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, and perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry, documenting results in the EMR per physician requirements.

The role emphasizes patient education, medication instructions, and assisting with minor procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients to accurately gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system.
• Proactively engages patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and communicates delays or changes.
• Initiates and performs documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and past medical history.
• Records all information in the EMR system according to established standards and physician requirements.
• Conducts tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
• Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Assists with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections and laser treatments, in exam or treatment rooms.
• Educates patients regarding medications and pre/post operative instructions.
• Secures patient information and maintains confidentiality per HIPAA.
• De-escalates dissatisfied patients with problem-solving.
• Stay current with eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & medications.
• Supports team and handles other projects as requested.
