Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our Sandusky, OH clinic. You will greet patients, explain what to expect, and escort them to exam rooms, performing diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry before the physician review.

You will document patient history in the EMR, maintain HIPAA compliance, assist with minor procedures, and educate patients on medications and postoperative care while supporting the ophthalmology team with accurate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• EMR experience preferred.
• Typically 0-3 years of experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and enter information into EMR.
• Explain what to expect during the visit and communicate delays.
• Document chief complaint, present illness, and past medical history.
• Record information in EMR according to standards.
• Conduct tests: visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry.
• Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Assist with minor procedures and laser treatments; prep sterile fields.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/postoperative care.
• Protect patient information and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Stay current with eye anatomy and medications; support team.
