Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to greet patients, explain appointment expectations, and escort them to exam rooms while performing diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry before the physician visit.

The role emphasizes accurate EMR documentation, HIPAA-compliant handling of patient data, and assisting with minor procedures and patient education. Strong communication and clinical skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Essential EMR data entry and chart upkeep.
  • Strong communication to inform patients about visits.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with patients to gather information and enter it into the EMR system.
  • Communicates what to expect with the visit and notifies patients of delays or changes.
  • Documents chief complaint, present illness, and past medical history in the patient chart.
  • Records information in EMR according to standards and physician requirements.
  • Performs tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
  • Applies eye drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
  • Assists with minor surgeries, intraocular injections and laser treatments; prepares patients for sterile procedures.
  • Educates patients on medication administration and perioperative instructions.
  • Scribes for physicians and safeguards patient information per HIPAA.
  • Remains current with eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms & ocular meds; answers general questions.
  • Helps team and supports special projects as requested.
