UBMD Ophthalmology / Ross Eye Institute is seeking an Ophthalmic Surgical Scheduler to join our team in Buffalo, NY. This full-time onsite role focuses on coordinating ophthalmic surgeries from consultation through post-operative care.

The ideal candidate will be organized, with strong communication skills and knowledge of ophthalmology scheduling processes, ensuring a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in medical scheduling, ophthalmology, or surgical coordination.
• Familiarity with clinical operations, terminology, and administrative procedures.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain discretion.
• Proficient with computers, software, and practice management technology.
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule all ophthalmic surgeries for the designated provider.
• Communicate dates, pre- and post-operative instructions, and insurance requirements.
• Provide exceptional customer service and address patient questions.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations prior to surgery.
• Submit paperwork and maintain accurate records in the EMR system.
• Collaborate with surgeons, technicians, and clinic staff to ensure timely scheduling.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and clinic protocols at all times.
