Job summary

Talley Eye Institute in Evansville, IN is seeking enthusiastic ophthalmic surgery coordinators to establish and coordinate schedules across clinics, surgeons, and surgery centers. Strong verbal and written communication and multitasking are essential.

Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments, counseling for cataract/retinal/glaucoma/cornea/lids surgeries, handling pre-admission testing, completing consent forms, forwarding paperwork to facilities, and traveling to outlying cities

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Data entry skills required.
• Knowledge of medical insurance/benefits and medical terminology preferred.
• Familiarity with chart documentation and eye anatomy is a plus.
• Ability to travel same day to outlying cities is required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments as needed.
• Counsel patients for all surgeries (cataract/retinal/glaucoma/cornea/lids, etc.).
• Stay current with technologies & medications and answer general patient questions.
• Discuss non-covered benefits with patients.
• Complete consent and other necessary forms for surgery.
• Forward surgical paperwork to appropriate facility/hospital.
• Inform patient of pre-admission testing and day-of-surgery expectations.
• Schedule patient at correct facility.
• Type patient History & Physical form.
