Job summary

Key Whitman Eye Center in North Arlington, TX seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely with physicians and staff to deliver high-quality ophthalmic care. You will gather patient histories, perform diagnostic testing, document findings, and assist with procedures to ensure clear post-operative instructions.

The role emphasizes accurate measurements, patient communication, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinic setting with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of medical/ophthalmic experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient histories with accuracy.
• Perform lensometry and visual acuity testing.
• Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, etc.).
• Carry out functional ocular measurements (color vision, BAT, Schirmer, Amsler Grid).
• Perform refractometry and administer topical ophthalmic medications.
• Assist physicians with ophthalmic procedures and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic instruments; document findings in EMR.
