Key-Whitman Eye Center in McKinney seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with basic to complex eye care procedures and to document patient records accurately.

Responsibilities include lensometry, diagnostic testing, refractometry, medication administration, and post-operative instruction communication. A strong communicator with EMR proficiency and HIPAA compliance is preferred; bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• JCAHPO certification preferred.
• CPR preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance.

Responsabilités

• Obtains accurate patient history.
• Performs lensometry.
• Performs diagnostic testing of the eye with basic tests.
• Obtains accurate visual acuities with basic optics understanding.
• Demonstrates ability to perform ocular measurements and tests.
• Demonstrates ability to perform accurate refractometry.
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications.
• Maintains and sterilizes surgical instruments.
• Assists physicians with procedures and post operative instructions.
• Communicates post operative instructions clearly to patients.
• Handles patient data with HIPAA compliance.
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy.
• Be well organized and attentive to detail.
