Key-Whitman Eye Center in Dallas seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely with clinic physicians, document patient records, and input recommended treatments and procedures.

The role includes lensometry, diagnostic eye testing, refraction, administering topical medications, tonometry, and assisting with minor procedures while upholding HIPAA, EMR proficiency, and strong patient communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• JCAHPO certification preferred.
• CPR preferred.
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy.
• Proficiency in a second language highly desirable.
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Obtains accurate patient history.
• Performs lensometry.
• Conducts diagnostic testing of the eye using HVF, HRT, IOLMaster and related tools.
• Determines accurate visual acuities.
• Performs refractometry and ocular measurements.
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications.
• Performs tonometry.
• Maintains and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists physicians with procedures and post-operative instructions.
• Communicates clearly with patients and staff.
